(New in Marvel Unlimited 12/25/17)
Marvel Comic Snippets: A weekly series where I highlight the interesting and amusing bits from new comics released into the Marvel Unlimited App. Instead of spending hours of reading, you only need ten minutes.
So, what’s new with the X-Men? Oh, nothing much just this happened:
Yep, Storm kissed Gambit! Interesting.
Oh, just admit it Storm. You kissed him because you felt like it. She deserves some happiness after that divorce from Black Panther a few years back.
Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy are on a mission to steal from the Collector. However, the Collector has caught them! No worries, Rocket knows exactly what to do with a well placed shot.
The team is stunned, except for Drax who knows nothing is ever that easy.
When Drax tells Rocket, you just can’t kill the Collector, Rocket responds by gesturing to the body on the ground.
See? Definitely dead.
Or is he?
One thing I’ve learned from too many books and movies is that if you ever have to ask if someone is behind you, the answer is always YES!
Rocket offers up his gun to the Collector. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that the Collector collects all the weapons that have temporarily killed him.
But Rocket has one more trick up his sleeve, or in this case….up his gun.
So, what’s Rocket’s new plan? It’s everyone “shaddup and run”!
In another part of the galaxy, Doctor Strange is working with the Kingpin to obtain some magic from a witch the Kingpin knows. The witch is not to happy to see them or the trouble they brought with them.
The witch dispatches the danger.
And we find out that the Kingpin may be a Lord of the Rings fan! Or at least he knows who Gandalf is anyway.
Elsewhere, Spider-Man and Ant-Man discuss Spidey’s villains.
Only Spider-Man can save us from the old people!
Mockingbird and a few of the Avengers journey to the savage land.
Sauron catches Mockingbird by surprise.
But someone blasts Sauron away!
It was the AI of Tony Stark, and you know he’s never going to let Mockingbird forget that he did not even have to leave the plane to help her.
Sam Wilson, Ant-Man, Quicksilver, Mockingbird, and Hercules discuss if they should work with Sauron to find a piece of the cosmic cube hidden in the Savage Land.
Hercules will go along with any plan that allows him to fight some dinosaurs.
It does not take long for Hercules to get his wish!
I just love the sheer joy on the face of Hercules at the though of fighting two Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Hercules leaps into battle!
And he is promptly swallowed.
I don’t think that fight turned out how he expected it.
He’s mostly fine. He’s just a little slimy.
Ant-Man enlarges himself to avoid getting bitten, but he doesn’t have much luck either.
That looks like it would really hurt.
It just isn’t Hercules’s day. He fights Lupa, one of the mutates in the Savage Land.
Lupa bites into his shoulder, which Ant-Man turns into a joke after the battle.
I have to agree with Mockingbird. I would watch that were-buddy show too!
Squirrel Girl and Enigma run into trouble from Hydra, but they are rescued by:
Yay! Ares is back!
The poor little Hydra goon in the plane has no idea what is going on.
No Ares, I’m pretty sure Hydra goon #3463 did not want to see you in his lifetime…ever.
And now that lifetime is over.
Squirrel Girl recognizes Ares!
And she also knows he should be dead. (Ares suffered from an extremely violent death by Sentry back in Marvel’s Siege event.) But all is well now because Ares got better. Hey, if ordinary people can come back to life in the Marvel Universe, Gods should be able to as well.
I’m just happy Ares is back. Now he just needs to bump into Hercules again because I love seeing those two bicker.
