(New in Marvel Unlimited 1/15/18)
Marvel Comic Snippets: A weekly series where I highlight the interesting and amusing bits from new comics released into the Marvel Unlimited App. Instead of spending hours of reading, you only need ten minutes.
Deadpool’s daughter, Ellie, has been having trouble adjusting to her new Hydra school. I love the school’s poster above that mentions if you miss one detention, two more will take its place.
The principal makes the mistake of expelling Ellie, so Deadpool knocks him out. Really, what was that guy expecting? He’s lucky he didn’t get shot or robbed.
So much for not being robbed! That’s some great parenting there Deadpool.
While Deadpool isn’t busy fighting with the school system, he picks a fight with Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
There is no way for Deadpool to win this one. Sure he could beat Moon Girl in a fight, but he still loses for being the guy that beats up a little girl.
“CHOMP!” Moon Girl isn’t alone though.
The rest of Moon Girl’s team members face off against the remaining foes. Quake has a twisted encounter with her dad, Mr. Hyde.
Taskmaster and Karnak begin to battle. This should be an awesome fight!
Oh. It’s already over because Scarlet Witch assisted. Bummer. I was really wanting to see more combat between Taskmaster and Karnak.
Squirrel Girl has one a trip to the Savage Land. I love the humor on those panels about how we can experience the length of the flight.
There is a gift shop at the airport with dinosaur posters. I enjoyed the little poke at the appearance of Marvel’s dinosaurs and why their appearance clashes with current scientific discoveries.
Squirrel Girl posing with thumbs up in front of Iguanodon is exactly the sort of silly thing I would do. I have no idea what is going on with her eyes though.
As part of the tour, Squirrel Girl and her friend Nancy get to ride on selected species of dinosaurs. Squirrel Girl (in disguise as an ordinary human by tucking her tail in her pants) is told she is not allowed to ride any of the other dinosaurs because it is too dangerous.
And now I realize I have a new life goal too. Ride all the dinosaurs!
Squirrel Girl isn’t the only one having a close encounter with dinosaurs. Venom has to fight his way through Stegron’s created dinosaur army.
Along the way, Venom bumps into Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, who are also investigating the disturbances created by Stegron’s army. I love how detailed Devil Dinosaur is in this artwork, although he does look a bit dragon like in the face.
Devil Dinosaur charges after Stegron!
But our heroes realize too late that Devil Dinosaur is vulnerable to Stegron’s mental abilities and becomes Stegron’s puppet.
Meanwhile, the Spider-Men (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) are investigating a strange portal.
Taskmaster steps through the portal, but he is dressed in a costume I’ve never seen before. I enjoyed Taskmaster’s response of “damn right” when Peter mentioned that “he’s about to kill us both.” However, Peter’s description of Taskmaster as “one of the scariest human beings on the planet” seems a little out of character for Peter, especially since…
We see Spider-Man and Taskmaster confront each other again in another comic this week. That’s right! Three Taskmaster appearances this week. That has to be a record.
While Taskmaster is focused on Mockingbird, Spidey webs his sword arm.
Then Spider-Man tosses Taskmaster into Wrecker.
Mockingbird seems pleased by the rescue.
I wonder if we will ever see that date between Peter and Mockingbird.
Back in New York, Shocker and Scorpia are forced to temporarily team up with Rogue to survive against a demon.
Scorpia asks Shocker what we’ve all been thinking. hee hee
