(New in Marvel Unlimited 2/5/18)
Marvel Comic Snippets: A weekly series where I highlight the interesting and amusing bits from new comics released into the Marvel Unlimited App. Instead of spending hours of reading, you only need ten minutes.
We learn that when Drax is itching for a fight, he does not give out his real name to avoid the opponents fleeing in terror. Instead he gives the name of…
Star-Lord! Haha, that’s great and he manages to insult his opponent at the same time because the guy is being carried around in a chair held up by his minions.
Back on Earth, we learn Kate Bishop has quite a talented posterior.
Her butt can take care of itself! It’s gross, but it works. Maybe that is her super power?
On a more serious note, Nadia finds out her father, Hank Pym, used to hit his wife, Janet.
While the dialog between the two generations of Wasps is interesting, I can’t help admiring Janet’s yellow dress. It is stylized after her costume and look at all those cut outs on the sides and the big one in the front. It is quite a cool design in my opinion.
More insightful dialog but this time without Janet’s gala gown to distract me. That is a really good message about not letting the actions of other people define you.
Janet reveals she left Hank because he would not seek help for his mental illness out his own stubborn pride. I really enjoyed all the glimpses into Janet’s thoughts and the development of her character in this whole series.
And there is the dress one last time!
Meanwhile, Doctor Octopus is flying the Hydra Avengers off to investigate a potential problem. As he pilots the plane, he contemplates the attributes of each member of the team.
Doc Ock believes Taskmaster is only loyal to money. That sounds about right.
It seems Doc Ock is a little threatened by Taskmaster’s imitation abilities and resents the thought of Taskmaster copying any of Doc Ock’s “unique” combat skills.
Back out in a galactic prison, Absorbing Man and Black Bolt are still powerless and discuss their pasts to pass the time.
I love Absorbing Man’s nickname for Black Bolt, “wishbone”.
What’s the story wishbone? What’s this your dreaming of? Great, now the theme song from that Wishbone tv series with the cute little dog is stuck in my head.
We learn Black Bolt does not drive.
I love the look on Absorbing Man’s face when Black Bolt mentions travel via teleporting dog. It is one of those looks of “I’m not sure if this guy is crazy, or messing with me, or really has a teleporting dog.” Or the look I have when I try to pick out a cereal in the morning. Do I want the Cheerios, the Golden Grahams, or the Reece’s Puffs?
Absorbing Man also reveals how he got his powers while in prison.
“Loki be crazy” is the short version.
How can Black Bolt not know what a wishbone is? Someone get that man a turkey and a tv to watch a little dog daydream about stories from books.
You know, there are a lot of characters whose costume involves not wearing a shirt. Absorbing Man, Drax, Hulk, Namor, occasionally Iron Fist. I never thought about that before.
